A little sci-fi "crate" doodle between projects. I've been really interested in cylindrical doodles this year. There's something seductive about the workflow and it doesn't easily forgive bad topology. This one took a handful of hours over the course of a week. No direct references were used because I like to see what happens when I just let my mouse wander, but I think it was originally inspired by a dream the week before. I used some of my own decals from a previous doodle project for some of the finishing touches.

Overall, I like it! It's got a quirky style that feels anachronistic. Is it from an alternate past or the future? All I know is that I want to touch it — especially the red button on the side. The base still feels pretty bland, maybe the screws don't feel strong enough for the structure, but I think I've ready the point of diminishing returns on this one. Time to move on to the next project!
